Greetings from the PTA

Dear Lakeview Families,

It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter of the 2018-2019 school year. I know it sounds cliché, but I really feel like I have blinked, and the year is already coming to and end. As I reflect on these last months, I am so proud of the accomplishments of the entire Lakeview PTA team. From the Executive Board to the Room Parents, Watch Dogs, and every volunteer position in between, I cannot thank you enough for every minute you have dedicated to making Lakeview the incredible community that it is. When we say that YOU are PTA…it really is true. And, all that we have achieved this year proves just that. I wholeheartedly believe we have something very unique and special at Lakeview that is the product of a sincere and authentic commitment to building relationships among our students, parents, teachers, administration, support staff, and community partners.

We are in the home stretch of completing our application for the National PTA School of Excellence designation. I am grateful for every one of you who have participated in this process by completing the survey, participating on the Excellence Leadership Team, and for leading the initiatives that have supported meeting our objectives. There is a final survey coming out in a couple of weeks, so, please be on the lookout for that. It only takes a few minutes to complete and submit as our final application is due by June 1.

It has been a true honor to serve as your PTA President this year, and I appreciate the opportunity to continue leading this incredible team again next year. We are actively planning new ways to provide opportunities to further enhance and build our community. So, be looking for some fresh, fun events that we are already planning for next year. And, if you would like to get plugged into the planning, please contact me, Michaela Sims, our Volunteer Coordinator, or any one of the 2019-2020 Executive Board. Continue to follow the Lakeview PTA Facebook Page for information that will come out over the summer in preparation for the upcoming school year. I hope you have a wonderful, fun and safe summer break!

I look forward to seeing you again in August!

With Bobcat Love,

Ann DeCapite

Kindergarten Roundup: Take 2
(Parent Information)

Tuesday, May 14th
6:00 p.m.
Lakeview Elementary Library

Attention Incoming Kindergarten Parents:
Due to some bad weather in the area, Roundup didn't go exactly as planned this year.  On Tuesday, May 14th at 6:00 p.m. we are offering the parents-only portion of the Kindergarten Roundup presentation that you missed.  Dr. Seltzer will share more details on our Lakeview kindergarten program and the PTA will share ways in which you can support the school and get involved. A specific timeline of "back to school" events will be shared. Childcare will be provided (ages 4 and up); however, this is only a rescheduling of the presentation to parents and not the portion in the kindergarten teachers' classrooms.

You are invited to join us for the last PTA Membership meeting of the school year that begins at 6:30 p.m. with guest speaker to follow.  See below for details.

PTA Parent Program Series

Immediately following our Membership Meeting, we will welcome a guest speaker from Brain Balance, who will present on the topic of â€œGetting to the Root of Why Children Struggle” as part of our PTA Parent Program Series.  We hope you can join us!
