Hello Lakeview Families!

Well, it’s official…December has arrived! I hope every Lakeview family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is excited about finishing strong over the next few weeks as we head into Winter Break. Thank you to everyone who completed the School of Excellence survey. We have successfully submitted our application for the 2020-2022 School of Excellence designation and will be looking for people to serve on the Excellence Leadership Team with meetings to begin in January 2020. So, please be on the lookout for that initiative.

Also, Lakeview Elementary PTA will be sending out an internal survey to Lakeview families this week. Because our heart is to serve YOU…our teachers, admin, staff, parents, & students…we want to hear from you to gain feedback on the activities and events we have held during the first part of the school year. It is important that we know what we are doing right, as well as, specific areas where we can improve. I’d like to thank you in advance for taking a few moments to complete that survey when it is published.

I would also like to express my sincere gratitude on behalf of the entire leadership team for all of your support so far this year. No event can be a success without a dedicated team of people from the chairs to the volunteers. We are incredibly blessed by the generous community of families at Lakeview, and for that, we say, “THANK YOU!”

I wish you a blessed holiday season and look forward to an exciting 2020 at Lakeview Elementary School.

With Bobcat Love,

Ann DeCapite

Membership

The Lakeview PTA is so very thankful for each and every one of our 670 members. Our PTA has already hit several milestones this school year, including October's Texas PTA Fall Membership Increase Award. Thanks to you, we reached over 100% of last year’s membership way back in August.  We’re excited for what’s to come for our PTA members and Lakeview. Be looking for details for our parent education speaker series coming in February. We' re also planning some special events this spring and will be looking for student PTA members’ input. Thank you for your memberships and all that you do to support your Lakeview PTA!

New Family Welcome

Attention New Families: You are invited to join us for our second Bobcat 101 session on January 24th from 7:30-8:00 am in the Lakeview Library immediately followed with Coffee with the Principal (see details below). Light breakfast will be served. Come with questions and have a chance to meet other new families. Both new and “old” new families are welcome to attend. In the meanwhile, we held a Bobcat 101 information session for new families at the beginning of the year. You can find the downloadable presentation at https://lakeviewpta.membershiptoolkit.com/assets/00835/Bobcat101.pdf.

We would like to welcome our newest addition to the PTA team, Amanda Rykov! Amanda will be serving as the New Family Welcome Chair and we are excited to have her on board! If you have questions please email Amanda.

Coffee with the Principal

The Lakeview PTA will host a Coffee with the Principal on January 24th, from 8:00-8:30 am in the Lakeview Library. Attendees will get the chance to better know Mrs. Oster, hear about upcoming events and programs, and ask questions and/or share concerns that will positively impact student academic achievement. Light refreshments will be served.

Holiday Gift Shop

The Lakeview PTA is hosting a Holiday Gift Shop for all students from December 9 – 13th during school hours, with extended hours the evening of December 10th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Under the supervision of parent volunteers, this is an unforgettable event for the kids to enjoy as your child will have the chance to hand pick gifts as a surprise for friends and/or family members.  The holiday shop is a way to teach kids the value of money and how to carefully spend it while also allowing them to experience the joy of giving.  Information was sent home for the Holiday Shop before Thanksgiving. Your child's teacher will communicate with you regarding shopping day and time.  Miss the scoop? >Click here

Way to go Bobcat artists! Next year’s theme has already been announced as “I Matter Because...”  If your student is inspired to draw, paint, photograph, write about, dance to, compose, or film a creative way to depict the Reflections theme, SAVE IT!  We will collect work in the fall. Reflections is a national art contest open to students K-12th grade, so fifth graders are encouraged to continue through middle school and beyond.
