Hello Lakeview Families! It is hard to believe that we have just started the 7th week of the 2019-2020 school year and the first grading period is almost behind us! I am sure many of your families have experienced the pendulum swing from great excitement at the beginning of a new year and Family Fun Night to great angst as the hard work of math, vocabulary, reading, and navigating new and seasoned friendships has commenced. As a parent of children in elementary, middle, and high school, I can personally attest to these challenges and the simple fact that NOTHING gets accomplished without collaboration, coordination and an encouraging word or two from the people with whom I surround myself. From homework, to extracurricular activities, as well as, PTA, being surrounded by people willing to do small (and big) things, with loving hearts, help me to accomplish some simple, yet significant things every day.
As October begins, Lakeview Elementary PTA moves into one of the most important times of year…BOBCAT DASH month. Be looking for information to come home with your student THIS Friday, October 4, 2019. Helen Keller said it best when she said “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." The work that the Lakeview PTA does is grounded in the heart we have for every student, teacher, staff member, and family at Lakeview Elementary School. The reality is that we truly only accomplish what we do when A LOT of people do A LOT of small things that when brought together make such a difference for the Lakeview community. In year’s past we have had approximately 25% of Lakeview families support the Bobcat Dash. And, we have been able to do some really amazing things as a result. This year, we challenge EVERY family to do a little…that means we are shooting for 100% participation. If every Lakeview family will support this initiative, then the accomplishment can be something truly wonderful for our school. In addition to making sure we can continue to provide all of the events, activities, and experiences families enjoy throughout the year and the supplemental resources PTA provides for student classrooms, our goal is to add new shade equipment to the playground area to ensure that the playground equipment is not too hot for students to play on and to provide relief from the Texas sun when enjoying their much-needed recess outside. Please join me in making this year’s Bobcat Dash the best one ever. I know we can achieve these goals for our students if we all work together.

The Bobcat Dash is Lakeview Elementary School's major fall fundraiser each year! The proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Lakeview Elementary PTA to benefit PTA activities and Lakeview Elementary. These funds allow the school to provide educational and recreational tools and resources for the students, so we thought that it is important to give you a little more information on this amazing annual event! This Friday, October 4th, our PTA will host our Bobcat Dash Pep Rally for all students during a morning assembly. >Click here for more Bobcat Dash info. Sponsors to Date

Membership Update: With our membership now reaching 645 members, the Lakeview PTA is set to win several awards this year though the Texas PTA. We have actually already reached all of the goals the state PTA has set for the months of August (Head Start Award, reaching 75% of previous year’s membership), September (Early Bird Achievement Award, reaching 100% of previous year’s membership), October (Membership Increase Award, for more than 100%), and November (500+ Club, with membership exceeding 500 members.)
This year, we will also qualify for several special category awards. The first award is the Student Membership Award, and with our almost 200 student members, we’ve reached that goal 7 times over. The MARS (Men are Really Super) Award goes to local PTAs with at least 50 men as members; we’ve already knocked that out of the park. And the big award, the Voice for Every Child Award, Platinum Level, which goes to school who have members equal to at least 100% of student enrollment. We achieved that status back in August. If you still have not joined the PTA, there are still a few awards out there we would love to earn. Click here and get signed up today! Our next immediate goal is to have at least 50 community members join the PTA. For local business owners, it’s an easy way to show your support of the Lakeview PTA and all that we are doing for our school. Thank you! Bobcat 101
