It’s October, so that means it’s time for Bobcat Dash! While it is the PTA’s largest fundraiser of the year, it is also a time to celebrate being a Lakeview Bobcat. It’s a week of pep rallies, mascot shenanigans and cheerleader and band visits, culminating with a fun day of obstacle course running and blacktop games. It’s also a week of showing how much we love Lakeview and its students, staff and families.

What is the Bobcat Dash?

Bobcat Dash is the largest fundraising event that Lakeview Elementary PTA holds. The PTA uses money raised during Dash to fund a number of grants, programs and items; for example, supply grants for every teacher and aide at Lakeview; community events like Bobcat Family Fun Night, Boys Night Out and our Sweetheart Dance; classroom hall decorations and holiday parties; program grants for our Specials teachers; and digital subscriptions for students at Lakeview.

In addition to raising money for our school, Bobcat Dash encourages students to take pride and ownership in our school and community. There will be plenty of Bobcat spirit; some friendly competition between classes and grades; and a few visits from other Bobcat supporters in our community for some school spirit-filled morning pep rallies.

How does the Bobcat Dash work?

To make fundraising easy, the Lakeview PTA uses a digital platform for fundraising: every student will have a personal fundraising page that they can customize with their own photo, fundraising goal and design. Once you’ve set up your child’s page, you can start raising money by inviting family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in our community to support our school.  Our goal this year is to raise $40,000! With your support and the students’ efforts, WE CAN EXCEED IT!!

To motivate students, we’ll have a few friendly competitions going on. Students will earn raffle tickets for daily drawings at lunch. Classes can earn some special school perks, and the class that raises the most gets a popcorn and movie party. The grade that comes out on top will get to have a recess party, complete with music, games and bubbles. If the school gets a donation from every state, popsicles for everybody! And for every $10,000 raised as a school, we’ll earn fun stations for our Dash Day obstacle course. Not to mention, there are some pretty awesome individual prizes for hitting those big fundraising goals. Please see the incentives and prize sheet flyers in the Bobcat Dash packet.

At the end of the week, all students will participate in an obstacle course and blacktop party organized by the Lakeview PTA.  This year’s Bobcat Dash Day will take place during grade level Specials times on Friday, October 25th, 2024.  Each child will receive their grade level shirt that day to wear. Volunteer sign ups are here to help us pull off a successful Dash Day.  We’ll get students pumped for the final weekend of fundraising, celebrate being a Bobcat, and spend some fun time obstacle-course-running, dancing, playing and snacking with our friends! 

What does my student need to do? 

Set up your child’s fundraising page by making sure their teacher and class is up to date, uploading a photo, customizing a goal, and crafting a welcome message.

Beginning immediately and through Sunday, October 27th, please help your child(ren) collect tax-deductible donations from family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else that is willing to help the children at our school.  All donations can be made through your child’s personal fundraising page, which is easy to share on Socials and via Email.
