ADVOCACY & LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES

Advocacy is at the core of our PTA mission to make every child's potential a reality. By engaging and educating members on important issues at the local, state and national level, PTAs become an important voice in making decisions that impact Texas families.

 

As part of Texas PTA, we are proud to continue building upon our long-standing legacy of advocating to make every child’s potential a reality within the following pillars: Supporting Student Success, Health and Safety, Meaningful Assessment and Accountability, and Strengthening Public Schools.

Lakeview PTA Backs the NISD Bond:
Northwest ISD is the fastest-growing school district in DFW. Voters in NISD are asked to consider funding new schools and other renovations through a bond election on the May 6, 2023 ballot. The proposal provides space for 8,400 additional students. The bond referendum will be presented as three separate propositions in accordance with state law.  For more information visit: https://www.nisdtxbond.org/. Early voting will run April 24th to May 2nd.  The Lakeview PTA voted unanimously to support the NISD 2023 Bong Package at our April 11th Membership Meeting. Check out what is proposed for Lakeview in the Bond! Long Range Planning Committee:
The NISD Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) has met and is expected to submit a bond proposal to the NISD Board of Trustees later this month.  As one of the fastest growing school districts in the state, we must continually evaluate our facilities and support systems to determine if our learning environments, equipment and infrastructure are equipped to best support the future of our growing student population.
 

To assist us in this effort, we rely on input from members of the LRPC. The LRPC helps us study and prioritize the facility needs of the school district and assists us in providing recommendations to the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees on possible future building projects.
