WHAT IS REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM?

Reflections is a Nation-Wide Art Contest.  Through the efforts of Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.  Lakeview participates in this national program/contest each year.  To participate, your student will create a piece of art (must conform to the guidelines - see below) and will submit it for local (Lakeview) judging.  Based on judges scores, the top works of art will advance to NISD-level judging.  From there, some could advance to state-level judging (and beyond).  Last year, an entry from a Lakeview student earned Honorable Mention at State! 

CALL FOR ENTRIES!

Is your Bobcat inspired to draw, paint, take pictures, write, dance, compose, or even film a creative way to depict the Reflections theme? Have them start working on it now! Entries are due in the Lakeview office by end of day, October 30, 2024. Note: Each entry must be accompanied by 2 copies of completed Student Entry form.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN REFLECTIONS?

The Reflections program is open to all Lakeview students. The student - or at least one person from their primary household - must be a current member of the Lakeview PTA. Eligible students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single arts category are permitted.  Each entry must be the original work of one student and created specifically for the Reflections program based on the theme. Each entry must also conform to the guidelines.  See Program Rules Packet (link below) for full details.

HISTORY OF REFLECTIONS

The National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts in education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
